A Important Message from Our PTA President, Kara Kalman
Dear Nursery School Parents,
It was so wonderful seeing so many of you at Back to School night! I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself. My name is Kara Kalman and I will be chairing the Beth El Nursery School PTA this year. I am so excited for this school year and the community we will build.
We have many wonderful events happening this year, but none of them are possible without volunteers to help plan and execute them. Below is a link to the Volunteer form. We strongly encourage everyone to find a committee to volunteer for and join. I promise that there are jobs, small and big, something for everyone regardless of how much time you have to offer.
The Nursery School PTA's official kick-off meeting will take place on Wednesday, Oct 22 at 8pm. It will be a great time to learn more about and brainstorm for each event and help create our goals for the year. During the meeting, we’ll provide everyone with an overview of the role of the PTA, explain the responsibilities of each committee and break up into small groups so that we can begin to get to work. Your participation is essential in order to guarantee successful programming in the school year ahead.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Ronnie, Shery or me.

We look forward to ushering in the High Holidays with the Beth El community. This is a time for reflection, prayer, and connection, and we hope that you will feel inspired and renewed by these sacred days. Below is some important information.
Tickets
At this point, you should have received your High Holiday tickets, or made arrangements to pick them up in the front office. Every adult will be required to present a ticket upon entering the building. Your Rosh Hashanah ticket will be used on both days of the holiday, as will your Yom Kippur ticket. If you have not received a ticket, please call (914) 235-2700. Security
Your safety and security, along with preserving a healthy environment, are our priorities. We take extra precautions for the High Holidays and thank you in advance for your cooperation. Security guards and New Rochelle Police will be situated throughout the property. Please do not bring any large bags, and note that Beth El reserves the right to check all bags. Please allow extra time to enter. Please make sure to pick up your name tags in the upper lobby on the first day you come to High Holiday services. The name tags help us create community and are also a safety measure.
Please acquaint yourself with relevant exit signs and publicized evacuation routes located in the back of each seat. Ushers, greeters, board members, and Beth El staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Livestream & Machzor Pickup
For those participating in the High Holiday services by livestream, Machzors will be available for pick-up at the Beth El security desk until Monday at 3:00pm.
While we hope you will be together with us in person, we are aware that not everyone is able to do so. We will be offering a livestream of our Sanctuary Services through the entirety of the holidays.
There is no parking allowed in the Wykagyl (CVS) parking lot, they will boot or ticket people who park in their lot.
Dropoff access at the front of our building is available.
All parking spaces available in the front of Beth El will be reserved for those displaying a handicap sticker. Additional parking will be available in the middle parking lot.
Parking is available at designated areas in the neighborhood. Please read the parking signs carefully, and be respectful of our neighbors by avoiding driveways and keeping roadways clear for traffic.
Childcare
Childcare will be available 10:45am–12:30pm on both days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and from 6:15pm until the end of service on Kol Nidrei.
Childcare will take place in the Nursery School wing.
Children ages 2–5 can be dropped off for childcare. Children under 2 years old are welcome to join with an adult only.
Nursing Room The Nursing Room will be available during all services, and is located in Room 4 throughout the holidays.
Quiet Space & Buddy Program Room 102 is reserved as a quiet room throughout the holidays. Children must be accompanied by an adult when using this space. There will be couches to relax on, books to read, and games to play. This room is designed by our Keruv Committee to ensure a comfortable space for those that need a break from the holiday bustle. In addition to the Quiet Room, for parents with a developmentally disabled child, Keruv will arrange for a "buddy” to stay with your child to enable parents to attend services. Please reach out to the main office if you would like more information.
This volunteer mission is for members who bring a child or grandchild between 19-29 years old.
Each day, we will volunteer, deepen our understanding of the impact of October 7th and the war, and engage in intergenerational dialogue about Israel, Zionism, and Judaism. Through shared experiences, the mission will strengthen our bonds with Israel and Israelis and create space for meaningful, cross-generational conversations within our families.
UJA is generously covering the full cost of the program for one participant in each of the first 10 families to register.
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend and we apologize for the late email. We’re reaching out to share two important updates regarding our Anaf dismissal procedures and Before & After Care logistics.
Anaf Dismissal Procedures We’re pleased that the overall logistics for the Toward Tomorrow program are running smoothly. That said, we recognize that the 2:30 p.m. dismissal for Anaf has been a bit challenging, and we’d like to implement a small change to improve the flow:
When arriving for Anaf pick-up, please use the second entrance to the parking lot and take an immediate right to park in the front parking lot.
After picking up your child, please exit onto Northfield Road to avoid the circle with the Toward Tomorrow buses.
We will have support staff outside beginning tomorrow to help guide this new traffic flow. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience as we make this transition.
Before and After Care Logistics
If you haven’t done so already, please confirm with us if your child will be attending Before and/or After Care so we can plan accordingly. Before Care Drop-off between 8:00–8:30 a.m. will be in Room 3. If you arrive after 8:30 a.m., please drop off in the Motor Room.
To find the Motor Room: Enter through the main lobby and head down the stairs. Walk straight (do not turn left toward the Nursery School), turn right at the end of the hall, and go down the ramp or stairs. The Motor Room will be on your right.
, After Care Shoresh children staying for After Care should bring:
A parve/dairy, nut-free lunch
A napping mat (cots are provided)
A comfort item for rest time (e.g., lovey, small stuffed animal, special book)
A hearty parve/dairy, nut-freeafternoon snack labeled After Care Snack
Gezah, Anaf, and Gesher children should bring:
A hearty, parve/dairy, nut-free afternoon snack packed in a separate container labeled After Care Snack - Please note: They tend to be quite hungry in the afternoon!
Pick-Up Locations: Shoresh (until 2:30 p.m.): Room 3 Gezah, Anaf, and Gesher: Pick-up will be from Playground 1 or Room 2, depending on the weather
We truly appreciate your attention to these details and your continued partnership. If you have any questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
