We hope you are enjoying a wonderful start to the summer! As we plan for our fall opening, we look forward to becoming acquainted with our new families and re-acquainted with our returning friends. We are confident that together we can develop a warm, mutually cooperative relationship, and continue to build an outstanding early learning center.
There are two modes of parental communication that is used in the Nursery School:
1. Our weekly Nursery School Happenings email, which contains important school wide and synagogue information. 2. A Daily Reflection that will be sent out by the teachers via Remini, through which you will be privy to moments from your child’s school day.
Important information is disseminated through these two platforms. Please be sure to read them both.
These documents should be printed, filled out and returned to school by Friday, August 22. Please be aware that no child can be legally admitted to school without a completed medical form.
During the weeks of August 25 and September 1, our teachers will be engaged in Staff Development meetings and classroom set-up. In addition, to facilitate an easy adjustment to school, the Nursery School staff will start the school year with home visits. Your child’s teacher will call at the end of August to schedule a mutually convenient time to visit. We will attempt to accommodate your schedules to the best of our ability and ask for your flexibility in this process. Visits will only be scheduled after we have received confirmation from the Business office that all financial obligations have been met.
Thursday evening, September 4, is our PARENT ORIENTATION AND CURRICULUM PRESENTATIONat 7:15PM. At this time, you will hear essential information regarding your child's school year. Following the general meeting, parents will be dismissed to their children's respective classrooms for a presentation by the teachers. They will share an overview of the program and discuss specific learning experiences, goals and important logistics for your child's class.
Friday, September 5 has been set aside for our BEGINNING TO CONNECT PROGRAM. Teachers will be reaching out to schedule a time when families will be invited into the school building for a CLASSROOM PEEK from 4:00 - 4:45pm. You and your child will be able to visit the classroom, pick a cubby and gain some familiarity with the environment. These visits will be brief and in small groups. Following the classroom peek, families are invited to join us for an optional NURSERY SCHOOL COMMUNAL SHABBAT EVENT, from 5:00 – 6:30pm, which will include a musical shabbat experience followed by dinner in our outdoor tent. Children will have the opportunity to play on the playground between the Classroom Peek and the Shabbat event. Further details to follow.
Monday, September 8 is the first day of school.(clickable link for full school calendar below) The first few sessions for the 2s will be somewhat abbreviated to facilitate a smooth transition into school and this staggered schedule entitled Beginning Days will be given to you by your child’s teachers. For all other age groups, school will end at 12:30pm on the first day, with lunch eaten in school.
