Dear Parents:
An essential value of being Jewish is to be in a constant state of gratitude. We are to say 100 blessings each day - we have that much for which we are thankful. At school we recite blessings to thank God in the morning during tefillah, when we eat challah, drink grape juice or have a meal. We are forever reminding children to say thanks for what they receive.
We can lose sight of what we have to be thankful for as the daily-ness of our lives adds to the messiness of our days. Spilled juice, lost shoes and flat-out ‘NO’s’ are intertwined with glimpses of living values, our midot, our Jewish values, woven through the school days; common courtesy and respect (derech eretz), helping a classmate with shoelaces and zippers (gemilut chasadim), FaceTiming with a classmates who is home sick (bikur holim).
Children might not remember the Hebrew names for these values, but they do remember how it makes them feel to do the right thing and be the recipient of an act of kindness. We try to help our children cultivate a sense of gratitude and acknowledge the plenty in their lives every day and not just when the calendar reminds us to do so.
We wanted to share with you the outstanding mitzvah you and your children all participated in during this pre-Thanksgiving time -- your outpouring of food donations filled our Giving Boxes! Shirin Stein, a volunteer at Project HOPE, came to school today to pick up each of the items. A few children gathered around the car that was filled to the brim with your donations. (See photo below).
May we express our deepest gratitude for your participation in this wonderful mitzvah, and for being such important role models to your children.
Sign up now for our annual HavDairyevent -- Saturday, December 7, 6:00 - 7:15PM. This evening is always a rousing success, and we are delighted to share that this year, Kids Musician and Funster Matty Roxx will be entertaining the children! Further details may be found below. Click here to register.
As a reminder to our After Care Families: We will be having our monthly staff meeting on Tuesday, December 3. As a result, After Care Ends at 3:00PM on that day.
Without each and every one of our families, our Nursery School would be incomplete. We value this warm and caring community that we have created together. As we approach this Thanksgiving holiday, we are tuned to the news and are hopeful that there will be a breakthrough in the hostage situation in Israel. That would truly be something to be thankful for!
We hope your day is filled with family and cheer, and we wish you all a tasty and joyous holiday.
Warmly, Ronnie & Shery _____________ Highlights:
