Sunday's Welcome Back Bash was a joy—Beginning with a barbecue in the crisp end-of-summer air under the tent—followed by a concert filling the walls of Beth El with original klezmer tunes from Frank London's heart, fulfilled by a bounty of world reknowned artists and our own Prayer Team as hundreds of our community members joined in celebration of life.
Rabbi Bedo on Silent Sacrifice: Midrashic Voices on the Akeidah In this class we will delve into the diverse interpretations of the Binding of Isaac, our Torah reading for the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Through ancient and contemporary midrashim and poetry, we will explore how different voices have grappled with the silences and tensions in this pivotal biblical story. September 17th Rabbi Sitkin on The Merciful Rabbis: Creating a God We Can Believe In In one of the most well known liturgical prayers, the 13 attributes of God, we extol God for being abundantly kind and patient. But prayers are not always as they seem. Was God really overflowing with unyielding compassion or was this just how the rabbis wanted to see God? Come and join me to find out. September 24th Rabbi Schuck on Beyond Atonement: Teshuvah as Transformation This class will explore teshuvah (repentance) as a path for transformation. By engaging with three classical models of teshuvah, we will examine how the sages envisioned it as a powerful tool for personal growth and spiritual realignment, with a focus on practical application in our lives.

MENDING RELATIONSHIPS, MENDING THE WORLD Iona University and AJC partner for an upcoming event on Monday, September 30th at 7:30pm at Spellman Hall, Burke Lounge, Iona University, 715 North Avenue in New Rochelle. As antisemitic incidents and attacks spike around the world, it is important to learn the story of the ongoing reconciliation between Jews and Christians. Dr. Heather Miller Rubens and Dr. Benjamin Sax will lead an exploration of how different types of stereotypes and misconceptions fueled hate throughout history, how the relationship transformed in recent decades, and how what we learn from that transformation can be applied to urgent problems today. RUN 4 THEIR LIVES is an opportunity to create community while supporting the releease of the hostages in Gaza. You can read more information about our 'why' at http://Run4lives.org. The group meets weekly on Sunday mornings. Participants can walk or run as much as they would like. WE WILL DANCE AGAIN by Israeli film director Yariv Mozer (Ben-Gurion, Epilogue, The Devil's Confession—The Lost Eichmann Tapes, Golda's War Diaries). The film provides a powerful minute-by-minute retelling of the terror attack that took place at the Nova Music Festival on October 7th, 2023, from the sole perspective of the survivors. It gives testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of tragedy. We are incredibly fortunate to have our film screened in select theaters across the US and wanted to invite you to experience this profoundly moving story of hope and resilience in a theater in Yonkers, NYC, and other local theaters.
